SPECIALIST MUSCULOSKELETAL ASSESSMENT
An initial assessment will be undertaken. Dependent on your complaint, this may involve assessment of your range of movement, muscle length and strength, sensation, joint stability and proprioception.
You will also be asked about your practice schedule, any changes in repertoire, instrument or technique and current exercise/stretching regimes.
Postural assessment with your instrument will be undertaken and photographs may be taken to assist with ergonomic markers.
Treatment may involve a range of techniques including joint mobilisations, stretches, acupuncture and a home exercise programme.
WESTERN MEDICAL ACUPUNCTURE
Western medical acupuncture may be used in combination with other physiotherapy techniques. It involves the insertion of fine needles through the skin and can also be called dry needling.
Within the scope of physiotherapy practice it can be used to help facilitate the healing process by reducing pain, neural irritation and muscle spasm.
